Harvest start 2023
Every year, the grape harvest is our highlight of the year. Due to the hot temperatures, we started the harvest a little earlier this year than last year. So far, we are extremely satisfied with the quality. We started with the Gouveio grape variety, which is characterised by beautiful exotic aromas such as pineapple and banana and also brings a refreshing citrus aroma. The second grape variety we started harvesting this week was Alvarinho, which this year is strongly characterised by white-fleshed peach, citrus and a refreshing acidity.
In the coming weeks, our team will devote a lot of time and skill to producing great wines from the 2023 vintage.
We are already looking forward to presenting the wines of the 2023 vintage to you next year.
Did you know? The majority of our grapes are harvested by hand into small crates so as not to damage the grapes and thus ensure the best possible quality of the grapes. This process is particularly gentle and is partly responsible for the fine aromas and high quality of our wines.
Grande Escolha 2019
After a long wait, the new Grande Escolha 2019 vintage is finally available. This wine, which is only produced every three years, is a Cuvée of 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca and 30% Tinta Barroca which was allowed to mature for 24 months in barriques and has now finally been bottled.
The majority of the wine comes from the harvest of the 2019 vintage. In addition, Dorina has saved the two best barrels from the 2018 vintage especially for this wine, in order to give the Grande Escolha the final touch and thus more depth and complexity.
The wine convinces with its dense colour in the glass and an intense composition of ripe forest and berry fruits, delicate hints of chocolate and floral aromas on the palate. The wine is perfect for the rest of the summer BBQ season as well as for the coming autumn and winter. Best tasted right here.
